FAQ
How does this process work?
You will first discuss your symptoms with a physician over the telephone during a free consultation. If the doctor feels that your condition can be treated through a medical house call, then appropriate arrangements will be made at your convenience, so that you can be treated in the comfort of your own home, office, or hotel. On the other hand, if the doctor feels that your symptoms would be better suited for the emergency room, he will make this recommendation immediately, so that you may call 911 to receive further evaluation in the emergency room.
What hours are you available?
A physician is available to see you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Your call will be answered promptly. We provide same day service, usually within several hours of the initial call. Please note that there may be rare occasions when the on-call physician is only available to provide telephone consultations. You will be notified of this option and the fee for this AFTER your initial free discussion of symptoms with the physician.

Will I be seen by a nurse or a physician?
You will always be seen and treated by a well qualified, board-certified, licensed physician, not a nurse or physician’s assistant like the majority of other local house call practices.

What type of patients do you treat?
We deliver medical care to adolescent and adult male and female patients, 14 years of age and upwards. We may treat pediatric patients occasionally depending on physician availability. We do not deliver obstetric care at this time, however we may be adding these services at some point in the future.
Can I still see my own primary care doctor?
Of course you can. At your request we will even go several steps further to ensure proper continuity of care by communicating with your doctor regarding any treatment you’ve received from us.
What happens is I need to be hospitalized?
During the initial free consultation, your call is triaged by our physician in order to determine if your symptoms can be treated through a house call visit. Otherwise you will immediately be directed to call 911 or visit the closest ER. Again, if you believe that your symptoms require emergent treatment, you must dial 911 instead of waiting for a response from us. In the event that you are admitted to the hospital, NJ Medivisits™ collaborates with several Hospitalist groups, who will care for you during your hospital stay. You also have the option to be admitted be your own primary care physician if he maintains attending privileges at that hospital.
